Wave fence designed by Geoff Herguth replaces Love Lock Fence on Portland's Commercial Street.

Hundreds of padlocks hanging on a Portland waterfront fence were so heavy the fence began to lean. It was deemed a public safety risk and had to be replaced.

Geoff was commissioned by the City of Portland, Maine, to create a new fence that would also serve as a form of public art. He designed it using AutoCAD 3D modeling.

The 40 foot long replacement was designed to resemble waves and features an anchor gate. Constructed from 1-1/4 inch steel pipe rolled to the specified radii with a CNC pipe rolling machine, the fence was then cut, welded and finished with Oh So Blue powdercoat.
