Herbie- a 200 year-old 110 foot-tall
American Elm tree near Yarmouth, Maine
After recovering from several bouts of Dutch Elm disease, the largest American Elm in New England finally succumbed. Herbie had to be cut down in 2010.
Geoff acquired some of the wood and created this table and chair set.
He used repurposed antique wrought iron for the base and a recoverd sunken ship's porthole for the decorative glass center.
The base includes a built in candle holder. When lit, the candle emits a soft glow through the glass center for dining ambience.
